Just for Teachers

The Planetarium Staff is dedicated to helping you find resources for your classes. If you need something specific that you can't find, contact us.

Tennessee's Curriculum Standards
Do you know the curriculum standards for science in Tennessee? Visit Tennessee's Education page to find out.

Simulations

Computer simulations are a great way to demonstrate abstract astronomy concepts in the classroom. Another way is to visit the Planetarium! Visit our Simulations page for a list of recommended astronomy simulations. Also, visit our Fun On-line for several interactive learning activities for elementary and middle school students.

Study Guides

Study Guides are available as pdf files for several of our star shows. Parts of the guides can be used to supplement your class materials. Click to see a description of our Current Shows. To download Study Guides, choose from the following: Our Place in Space, Secret of the Cardboard Rocket, or Lunar Odyssey (files have heavy graphics, may take a few minutes to download).

Distance Education

As a part of Outreach Program, the planetarium is working on a set of online astronomy modules for you to use with your class as a part of your science curriculum. Planetarium instructors and interns will act as experts for your unit by communicating with you and your students via email throughout the unit. The first module, Moon Phases, is ready to use.
